Pitch consultancy for websites and digital services

Choosing the right website agency is a significant decision. The wrong partnership can lead to wasted budget, missed opportunities and months of frustration. The right one can transform how your organisation connects with its audiences and achieves its goals.

At Path, we help organisations navigate the often complex process of appointing a new digital partner or reviewing an existing agency relationship.

We are experienced pitch consultants, with experience across strategic and creative website projects, for public sector and commercial businesses.

Our role is straightforward. We help clients make informed, confident decisions based on clear thinking, robust evaluation and the long-term interests of the organisation and its users.

Our only interest is helping you identify the right agency partner for your needs.

Why work with a vendor selection consultant?

Many organisations do not appoint website agencies often enough to have a clear or repeatable process internally. The stakes are high, timelines can be pressured and it is easy for decisions to become influenced by presentation style rather than genuine suitability.

We bring experience, structure and objectivity to the process.

We know what strong digital partners look like. We understand the questions that should be asked, the warning signs that can emerge during a pitch process and the factors that determine whether a relationship is likely to succeed over the long term.

Importantly, we also understand websites from both a strategic and delivery perspective. We are not simply procurement facilitators. We understand digital strategy, user experience, accessibility, content, governance, design and technical delivery. That means we can properly assess agency thinking, recommendations and capabilities.

Our process

Every organisation is different, but our approach is built around five clear stages.

1. Understanding your organisation

We begin by understanding your business, your objectives and the challenges you are trying to solve.

That means looking beyond the immediate brief to understand the wider context, internal stakeholders, organisational ambitions and the role your website or digital platform needs to play in the future.

2. Reviewing your current website

We conduct a considered review of your existing website and digital presence.

This helps identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and underlying issues that may need to be addressed during the appointment process. It also helps create clarity around priorities and expectations for prospective agencies.

3. Speaking to your users and stakeholders

Understanding audience needs is essential to making good digital decisions.

Where appropriate, we engage with customers, users or internal stakeholders to gather insight into current frustrations, expectations and opportunities for improvement. These conversations often reveal valuable perspectives that can shape both the brief and the evaluation process.

4. Drafting requirements for the RFT

We help develop a clear, focused and well-structured brief for the Request for Tender.

A strong website requirements brief does more than outline deliverables. It creates clarity for agencies, encourages better quality responses and ensures proposals can be assessed consistently and fairly.

We help define requirements, objectives, timelines, budgets, governance and evaluation criteria in a way that supports better decision making.

5. Evaluating tenders and selecting the right partner

Once proposals are received, we support you through the evaluation and selection process.

That can include reviewing submissions, scoring responses, facilitating presentations and workshops, interviewing agencies and advising on final selection.

Our focus is always on identifying the partner best suited to your organisation, objectives and long-term success rather than simply the most polished pitch presentation.

Independent advice you can trust

A successful agency appointment is about more than capability alone. It is about strategic fit, chemistry, communication, process and shared understanding.

We help clients make these decisions with confidence.

Whether you are planning a major website redesign, reviewing an existing digital relationship or preparing for a new procurement process, we can help create a clearer and more effective path forward.
