User-Centric Information Architecture for a new University Website
What We Did
- Stakeholder Alignment & Facilitation
- User-Centered Information Architecture (IA) Design
- User-centric Design Advocacy
- Usability Testing & Validation
When three separate institutes merged into a new university, we designed a user-focused Information Architecture that unified their digital presence while aligning diverse stakeholder interests.
The Challenge
With three Institutes of Technology merging into one, the newly formed Technological University Dublin needed a website structure that served students effectively while integrating input from multiple stakeholders with different priorities.
Our Approach
- Conducted in-depth stakeholder interviews across all three institutions to align on goals and priorities for the new TU Dublin website.
- Facilitated a workshop to shift focus towards a user-centric approach, emphasising student needs.
- Designed a new Information Architecture and navigation system tailored to user journeys.
- Conducted usability testing to validate the new navigation structure with real users.
The Impact
- Created a clear, intuitive website structure optimised for ease of use.
- Secured stakeholder buy-in, ensuring a smooth transition to the new TU Dublin site.
- Improved accessibility and ease of use through clear labelling and user testing.
By focusing on user needs and collaboration, we delivered a new information architecture to inform the new TU Dublin website of the newly formed university.
