We delivered a full brand refresh and website redesign for the Irish Chamber Orchestra, supporting their ambitions to grow audiences and strengthen fundraising. By aligning brand and website, ICO can now engage existing supporters while reaching new audiences and driving deeper engagement.
The Challenge
The Irish Chamber Orchestra (ICO) is known for its ambitious repertoire, rich education programme, and international reach. But their brand and website had not kept pace with the organisation’s evolution. There was an urgent need to realign their digital and visual identity with their creative ambition, while also engaging a broader and more diverse audience.
At the heart of the challenge was fragmentation: a visual identity that lacked consistency, an underperforming website, and no defined tone of voice. Marketing outputs weren’t connected, and user journeys were unclear. As ICO looked to the future, increasing reach, expanding digital engagement, and supporting fundraising, it was time to take stock, ask deeper questions, and set a new direction.

Our Response
We approached the work as a true collaboration, consulting closely with ICO’s leadership, marketing, communications, and education teams, alongside our partners at Opening Line, who led on tone of voice and language development.
Rather than leap straight into design, we began with a thorough discovery and brand analysis, rooted in stakeholder workshops and user research. We asked what the brand needed to say, show, and enable not just today, but over the next decade.
From there, we developed a clear roadmap split into two focused phases:
Phase One: Brand refresh & immediate digital uplift
- Refined visual identity and design assets
- New brand toolkit: extended colour palette, typefaces, photography guidance
- Templates for programmes, posters, and print marketing
- Tone of voice guidelines rooted in clarity, warmth, and accessibility
Phase Two: Website redevelopment
- Fully restructured, rethought and redesigned website
- New user-first architecture, improved content structure
- Built-in accessibility, mobile responsiveness, and CMS flexibility
- Designed to showcase the orchestra’s vibrant creative output, from ICOYO to ICO Originals


Brand Refresh
ICO’s new brand identity reflects their musical vibrancy while appealing to diverse audiences. Bold colours, rhythmic graphic lines, and clean typography were inspired by the essence of music, bringing energy to the brand. A flexible content block system and dynamic visual elements were applied across the website, social media, and print materials, creating a cohesive, recognisable look. This modernised visual language positions ICO as a dynamic, innovative organisation, ready to engage new audiences while maintaining authenticity with existing supporters.
